SF State’s Morrison Fellowship Quartet-in-Residence from 2007 to 2009, the Afiara Quartet is one of North America’s leading young string quartets. Widely noted for its engaging, authentic presence and performances balancing "intensity and commitment" with "frequent moments of tenderness" (The Montreal Gazette), the quartet quickly won the 2008 Concert Artists Guild International Competition, 2010 Young Canadian Musicians Award and top prizes at the Munich ARD International Music and Banff International String Quartet competitions. They are currently Quartet-in-Residence at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto. Free.
